## Verdict

While the 5'x7' Cottonwood Plaid Wool/Cotton Area Rug by Threshold looks appealing and provides a cozy underfoot experience, the overwhelming odor issues, excessive shedding, and disappointing durability reported by many users cannot be overlooked. Consider this rug if you're drawn to its style and don't have a sensitive nose, but proceed with caution or look for alternatives if these negatives are deal-breakers.

**Top pro:** Timeless plaid style and warm brown color effectively anchor a room.
**Top con:** Emits a strong, unpleasant odor likened to rotten eggs and cat litter, becoming worse over time.
