## Pros
- Highly durable and long-lasting, able to withstand aggressive chewing from strong pups
- Maintains its integrity even after extended use, offering true indestructibility
- Appealing to pets, likely due to the bacon flavor, which keeps their attention
- Effective in engaging puppies for long periods, making it a good investment
- Combines scent and flavor attraction with durability, boosting its usefulness
- Comes in bacon flavor, which dogs tend to prefer over other options like peanut butter
- Suitable for large or active chewers, providing extended entertainment
- Designed to be a long-lasting replacement for traditional chew bones
- Made in the USA, giving some assurance of quality standards
- Suitable for multiple breeds, including golden doodles and labs, indicating broad appeal

## Cons
- A known safety concern: it caused a dog to fracture a molar, suggesting it may not be safe for all aggressive chewers
- The old design with larger holes posed a risk of dogs getting jaws stuck, which led to injuries
- Not digestible; chewed-off pieces can be swallowed, causing potential health issues
- The injury required veterinary intervention, including possible tooth extraction
- The product may be too durable for some dogs, leading to dangerous dental injuries
- Owners of strong chewers should be cautious and monitor their pets closely
- Some users report that the safety issues with older versions outweigh the benefits
- Not suitable for dogs with dental health problems or extremely powerful biting
- The safety concern has led some owners to discard similar toys altogether, indicating the risk is significant
- No specific con for the current version in reviews, but safety remains a concern depending on the dog

## Bottom Line

While the Benebone Dental Toy is designed to be a durable and flavor-packed distractor for active chewers, safety concerns have surfaced—particularly with older versions that had larger holes and could cause injuries. If your dog is an aggressive chewer, weigh the risk of dental injuries carefully. Consider checking out newer designs or other brands with reinforced safety features. If you decide to try this product, always supervise your dog during playtime to prevent accidents.
