# TLDR Review: AquaIllumination AI Nero 3 Wavemaker *Published: 2024-10-30 | Updated: 2024-12-14 | Source: https://shopsavvy.com/reviews-tldr/aquaillumination-ai-nero-3-wavemaker* --- ## Verdict While the AquaIllumination AI Nero 3 Submersible Wavemaker Pump impresses initially with its powerful flow, stylish design, and intuitive app controls, persistent reliability issues and a short lifespan sour the overall experience. Frequent malfunctions necessitate ongoing maintenance and replacements, undermining the product's appeal for those seeking hassle-free operation. Consider exploring other options with longer warranties and higher reliability for better long-term satisfaction. **Top pro:** Offers exceptional flow and control through the accompanying app, enhancing user experience. **Top con:** Frequent breakdowns and errors after short periods of use, with issues such as flashing red LED and dull clicking sounds. ## Product: AquaIllumination AI Nero 3 Wavemaker **Brand:** AquaIllumination [Compare prices and price history on ShopSavvy](https://shopsavvy.com/products/aquaillumination-ai-nero-3-wavemaker) ## Pros - Offers exceptional flow and control through the accompanying app, enhancing user experience. - Sleek and attractive design, fitting well in smaller tanks like nano tanks. - Customer service has been noted as responsive and willing to assist with replacements. - The product's user-friendly app interface is often praised. ## Cons - Frequent breakdowns and errors after short periods of use, with issues such as flashing red LED and dull clicking sounds. - Extremely unreliable, often requiring regular disassembly and cleaning, creating a maintenance burden. - High price point does not match the product's longevity; many users report it failing within 18 months. - Noisy operations can be a nuisance, especially in quiet or office environments. - Limited and sometimes frustrating customer support experience, with replacements often showing similar failures. - Warranty is considered insufficient by many users given the product's life expectancy. - Reports of pumps needing replacement annually or even sooner, leading to disappointment over time. ## Pros vs Cons at a Glance | Pros | Cons | |------|------| | Offers exceptional flow and control through the accompanying app, enhancing user experience. | Frequent breakdowns and errors after short periods of use, with issues such as flashing red LED and dull clicking sounds. | | Sleek and attractive design, fitting well in smaller tanks like nano tanks. | Extremely unreliable, often requiring regular disassembly and cleaning, creating a maintenance burden. | | Customer service has been noted as responsive and willing to assist with replacements. | High price point does not match the product's longevity; many users report it failing within 18 months. | | The product's user-friendly app interface is often praised. | Noisy operations can be a nuisance, especially in quiet or office environments. | | | Limited and sometimes frustrating customer support experience, with replacements often showing similar failures. | | | Warranty is considered insufficient by many users given the product's life expectancy. | | | Reports of pumps needing replacement annually or even sooner, leading to disappointment over time. | ## Last Seen Prices *Each price is the last one ShopSavvy observed, on 2024-12-14; it may have changed since.* | Retailer | Price | Availability | Last seen | |----------|-------|-------------|-----------| | [Chewy.com](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/usJUiKrOK2SEU9Ev3vp6/offers/c3d69542-a49d-6c7c-35d3-25a9963c94a2?source=shopsavvy&medium=article-review-tldr) | $179.99 | In Stock | 2024-12-14 (may have changed) | | [Fish Tanks Direct](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/usJUiKrOK2SEU9Ev3vp6/offers/e241af23-ed09-6d2e-9067-db3bedbca737?source=shopsavvy&medium=article-review-tldr) | $179.99 | In Stock | 2024-12-14 (may have changed) | | [Petco.com](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/usJUiKrOK2SEU9Ev3vp6/offers/87350ea4-1cac-b3f8-d6d0-400a363e8edd?source=shopsavvy&medium=article-review-tldr) | $179.99 | In Stock | 2024-12-14 (may have changed) | | [Premium Aquatics](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/usJUiKrOK2SEU9Ev3vp6/offers/39d8771a-491e-56b6-0c32-eb9406d73ce1?source=shopsavvy&medium=article-review-tldr) | $179.99 | In Stock | 2024-12-14 (may have changed) | | [Reef Gurus](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/usJUiKrOK2SEU9Ev3vp6/offers/a2e67269-6db3-625a-8e13-32d84073ebdd?source=shopsavvy&medium=article-review-tldr) | $179.99 | In Stock | 2024-12-14 (may have changed) | | [SaltwaterAquarium.com](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/usJUiKrOK2SEU9Ev3vp6/offers/a36db000-7d42-5922-825a-7b96213cd5a6?source=shopsavvy&medium=article-review-tldr) | $179.99 | In Stock | 2024-12-14 (may have changed) | | [Waterbox USA](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/usJUiKrOK2SEU9Ev3vp6/offers/7c775a6c-0032-b87a-9ed7-116c34205fd2?source=shopsavvy&medium=article-review-tldr) | $179.99 | In Stock | 2024-12-14 (may have changed) | [See every retailer and the full price history on ShopSavvy](https://shopsavvy.com/products/aquaillumination-ai-nero-3-wavemaker) --- *About this review: it summarizes the professional reviews and customer ratings ShopSavvy collected for this product, alongside prices from ShopSavvy's price data (each price shows when it was last seen).* *Machine-readable access: append `.md` to any ShopSavvy URL, or send `Accept: text/markdown`, to get this page as Markdown.
