# TLDR Review: 3M Leather & Vinyl Repair Kit *Published: 2024-06-17 | Updated: 2024-12-04 | Source: https://shopsavvy.com/reviews-tldr/3m-leather-and-vinyl-repair-kit* --- ## Verdict The 3M 08579 Leather & Vinyl Repair Kit is a handy tool for minor leather and vinyl repairs, offering a cost-effective alternative to professional services. It works best for small fixes and requires some patience and skill, especially when it comes to color matching. While the heat curing method offers a durable finish, users might struggle with color matching and tool heating, which can affect outcomes. If you have basic repair skills, this kit could be a great choice for do-it-yourself fixes, but be prepared for a bit of a learning curve. **Top pro:** Great for very small repairs, such as scratches on vinyl and leather furniture. **Top con:** Color matching can be challenging, with included paints difficult to mix and lacking practical swatches. ## Product: 3M Leather & Vinyl Repair Kit **Brand:** 3M [Compare prices and price history on ShopSavvy](https://shopsavvy.com/products/3m-leather-and-vinyl-repair-kit) ## Pros - Great for very small repairs, such as scratches on vinyl and leather furniture. - Glue dries flexible and resistant within the stated 4-hour drying time. - Heat curing method provides a strong and lasting repair. - Repairs hold consistently, making it ideal for multiple uses on the same area. - Detailed, easy-to-follow 8-step instructions are included. - Cost-saving alternative to professional repair services. - Sufficient leftover materials for future repairs on smaller tears. - Impressive results with minimal visibility when successfully matched. ## Cons - Color matching can be challenging, with included paints difficult to mix and lacking practical swatches. - Metal heating tool requires frequent reheating and can be difficult to work with. - Black color turned gray/white after curing, impacting the final appearance negatively. - Removal of the product after heating is difficult, which can lead to unsightly results. - Backing material may not be sufficient for larger repairs;
