# TLDR Review: "Taste of the Wild High Prairie Dog Food, 28lb" *Published: 2026-02-04 | Updated: 2026-02-04 | Source: https://shopsavvy.com/reviews-tldr/"taste-of-the-wild-high-prairie-dog-food-28lb"* --- ## Verdict Taste of the Wild High Prairie offers a high-protein, grain-free diet made with real roasted meats that most dogs find delicious and satisfying. However, potential digestive issues and recent formula changes have affected some dogs negatively, so it's important to consult your veterinarian before switching, especially if your dog has a sensitive stomach or heart concerns. If your dog struggles with this food, considering alternative grain-free brands might be a safer path. Overall, this product is a solid choice for dogs that tolerate it well and enjoy a wild-meat flavor profile. **Top pro:** Dogs generally love the taste and eat it enthusiastically, showing strong palatability. **Top con:** Several users reported digestive issues like bad stools, runny and light-colored stools, or irregular bowel movements after switching to this food. ## Product: "Taste of the Wild High Prairie Dog Food, 28lb" **Brand:** Taste of the Wild [Compare prices and price history on ShopSavvy](https://shopsavvy.com/products/"taste-of-the-wild-high-prairie-dog-food-28lb") ## Pros - Dogs generally love the taste and eat it enthusiastically, showing strong palatability. - Made with real roasted bison and venison, providing a high-protein, grain-free formula that appeals to carnivorous instincts. - Contains probiotics and antioxidants from vegetables and fruits, supporting digestive health and overall wellness. - Provides balanced nutrition suitable for most active adult dogs. - The brand is considered reliable and preferred by many users for maintaining their dog's health. - Good quality for the price, with many seeing it as a justifiable investment in their dog's diet. - Highly digestible energy from sweet potatoes and peas supports active lifestyles. - Suitable for everyday feeding, making it a convenient staple. ## Cons - Several users reported digestive issues like bad stools, runny and light-colored stools, or irregular bowel movements after switching to this food. - Some dogs experienced decreased appetite and changes in pooping frequency, indicating possible intolerance or adjustment difficulties. - Product formula appears to have changed recently, with kibble color becoming lighter and texture grainier, which some users disliked. - The food has a stronger, unpleasant smell compared to previous versions. - There are potential concerns about a link between grain-free diets (including this product) and canine dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), a serious heart condition, so vet consultation before switching is strongly advised. - Some users with previously very tolerant dogs noted a decline in digestion quality with this formula. - Considered expensive by some buyers, which may be a factor if you are budget-conscious. ## Pros vs Cons at a Glance | Pros | Cons | |------|------| | Dogs generally love the taste and eat it enthusiastically, showing strong palatability. | Several users reported digestive issues like bad stools, runny and light-colored stools, or irregular bowel movements after switching to this food. | | Made with real roasted bison and venison, providing a high-protein, grain-free formula that appeals to carnivorous instincts. | Some dogs experienced decreased appetite and changes in pooping frequency, indicating possible intolerance or adjustment difficulties. | | Contains probiotics and antioxidants from vegetables and fruits, supporting digestive health and overall wellness. | Product formula appears to have changed recently, with kibble color becoming lighter and texture grainier, which some users disliked. | | Provides balanced nutrition suitable for most active adult dogs. | The food has a stronger, unpleasant smell compared to previous versions. | | The brand is considered reliable and preferred by many users for maintaining their dog's health. | There are potential concerns about a link between grain-free diets (including this product) and canine dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), a serious heart condition, so vet consultation before switching is strongly advised. | | Good quality for the price, with many seeing it as a justifiable investment in their dog's diet. | Some users with previously very tolerant dogs noted a decline in digestion quality with this formula. | | Highly digestible energy from sweet potatoes and peas supports active lifestyles. | Considered expensive by some buyers, which may be a factor if you are budget-conscious. | | Suitable for everyday feeding, making it a convenient staple. | | ## Last Seen Prices *Each price is the last one ShopSavvy observed, between 2024-09-26 and 2026-09-26;
