# Synology DS923+ NAS *Published: 2025-02-17 | Updated: 2025-02-17 | Source: https://shopsavvy.com/products/synology-ds923+-nas* --- **Brand:** Synology **Price Range:** $594.75 - $1333.99 across 26 retailers ## Pros - Synology is renowned for its user-friendly operating system and well-regarded brand reputation. - The DS923+ supports advanced features like Synology Hybrid RAID, Backup for Business, and Snapshot Replication for data security. - Users report excellent tech support availability after normal business hours. - The NAS greatly simplifies data storage, organization, and centralizes data management effectively for personal and business use. - Many find the setup process straightforward, especially with online guides and educational resources. - The device supports easy mirroring of multiple cloud services, offering centralized access to data from various devices. - Provides high data transfer speeds when utilizing a 10Gb add-on card and compatible network infrastructure. - Hot-swapping capability for business continuity with minimal downtime. - Flexible with third-party memory and disk options, allowing cost-saving customization. - Synology provides a secure storage solution for large files like photos and videos with real-time backup and drive monitoring. ## Cons - Misleading documentation on backup capabilities, specifically block-level backups, leading to confusion. - Limited valid destinations for block-level backups, restricted to Synology C2 Storage or another Synology NAS, potentially increasing overall costs. - Limited backup support for large, frequently changing files, such as VHD/VM images. - Users mention setup complexity when integrating 10GB ethernet networks. - Costly official hard drives from Synology, encouraging some to resort to third-party options. - Initial setup process, including Drive Check, can be lengthy and demanding. - Backup to external drives limited to rsync style file/folder, which are less efficient compared to true block-level backups. ## Specifications | Attribute | Value | |-----------|-------| | model | DS923+ | | processor | AMD Ryzen™ R1600 Dual-Core | | ram | 4GB | | lan_ports | 2xRJ-45
