# Sony NW-WM1AM2 Walkman *Published: 2025-12-27 | Updated: 2025-12-27 | Source: https://shopsavvy.com/products/sony-nw-wm1am2-walkman* --- **Brand:** Sony **Price Range:** $898 - $1799.99 across 12 retailers ## Pros - Delivers spectacular high-resolution sound with a slightly warmer signature, offering immersive clarity, wide soundstage, and excellent instrument separation that audiophiles will appreciate. - Extensive and unique system-level audio customization, including equalizers, audio filters, and custom sound signatures, allowing a personalized listening experience. - Solid, premium build quality with a visually appealing touchscreen and a premium feel; the original leather case is a recommended accessory. - Supports large music libraries smoothly, handling up to 1TB of FLAC files, with menu options that improve navigation by sorting both artist and album artist. - Battery holds charge well when wireless functions are disabled, improving on previous models, and the device maintains charge well after periods of non-use. - Works well with a variety of earphones and headphones, delivering clear and fatigue-free sound, although pushing powerful headphones may require volume adjustments. - High-definition Bluetooth codec support extends wireless listening options, especially notable with compatible headphones like Sennheiser MTW4 and Denon Perl Pro. ## Cons - Performance is noticeably slow, with lag especially when scrolling through albums or displaying album art, likely tied to limited RAM given the premium price. - Battery life falls significantly short of the claimed 40 hours, averaging around 12 hours, and drains quickly with any wireless connections enabled, making WiFi and Bluetooth streaming a battery hog. - Lacks Bluetooth DAC functionality, surprisingly limiting its capability as a wireless audio receiver at this price point. - Software is frustrating and unreliable for music management: playlist creation is complicated, music order resets on reboot, and deleting music requires manual device interaction rather than software. - Misses common Android features such as native gesture navigation, file quality display, current volume level reporting, and advanced streaming app integrations. - Power output is insufficient for some high-demand or planar magnetic headphones, requiring near-maximum volume and thus limiting volume flexibility and potential sound quality. - Bluetooth connectivity is unreliable at times, with occasional disconnections reported. - The sound improvement is most noticeable only with high-end headphones or speakers, which may limit appeal for casual listeners. - No user-replaceable battery; combined with a lack of guaranteed long-term firmware support, this raises concerns about device longevity and future-proofing. ## Last Seen Prices | Retailer | Price | Availability | Last seen | Store's standard terms | |----------|-------|-------------|-----------|------------------------| | [retailers/amazon](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7hPjZTjaeRLgUeRz86U7/offers/c1721cd6-b676-44b7-356a-b32b597bf643?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $898.00 | In Stock | 2025-11-30 (may have changed) | 30-day returns (in store too) | | [retailers/bestbuy](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7hPjZTjaeRLgUeRz86U7/offers/0faaac70-7a4c-5d86-4b7d-ba52d56e9041?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $949.99 | In Stock | 2026-01-24 (may have changed) | 15-day returns (in store too) · free return shipping · free shipping on $35+ | | [retailers/bloomingdales](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7hPjZTjaeRLgUeRz86U7/offers/34043c53-7909-ecdc-4a24-398b17218bf1?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $998.00 | In Stock | 2025-12-27 (may have changed) | | | [retailers/skybygramophone](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7hPjZTjaeRLgUeRz86U7/offers/1064c0d9-9f2c-7c19-27ca-66ddff0cab75?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $998.00 | In Stock | 2025-12-09 (may have changed) | | | [retailers/nordstrom](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7hPjZTjaeRLgUeRz86U7/offers/16a901a1-eb3e-e15f-8c43-066733d3b507?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $998.00 | In Stock | 2025-12-17 (may have changed) | 90-day returns (in store too) · free return shipping | | [retailers/buydig](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7hPjZTjaeRLgUeRz86U7/offers/b36526c0-4674-cb19-e84a-38f4cedc5c24?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $998.00 | In Stock | 2025-12-17 (may have changed) | | | [retailers/macys](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7hPjZTjaeRLgUeRz86U7/offers/32cc5e87-a82f-2901-aba6-cf7d75d8f766?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $998.00 | In Stock | 2025-12-17 (may have changed) | 30-day returns (in store too) · free shipping on $25+ | | [walmart.com](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7hPjZTjaeRLgUeRz86U7/offers/f6a22c7e-a9f6-ee11-6666-01f27688b1cf?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $1160.34 | In Stock | 2026-08-08 (may have changed) | 90-day returns (in store too) | | [retailers/focuscamera](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7hPjZTjaeRLgUeRz86U7/offers/73ff9d5a-18af-3ba2-21dc-3084bb98a467?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $1398.00 | In Stock | 2026-01-06 (may have changed) | 30-day returns | | [Target](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7hPjZTjaeRLgUeRz86U7/offers/967a955f-67f7-7ba6-ae9e-c6a01ebba389?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $1398.00 | In Stock | 2026-06-06 (may have changed) | 90-day returns (in store too) · free return shipping · free shipping on $35+ | | [retailers/wconcept](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7hPjZTjaeRLgUeRz86U7/offers/848197a2-a190-3cbc-6c5c-bc988ad6d8d5?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $1484.00 | In Stock | 2025-12-17 (may have changed) | | | [retailers/sony](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7hPjZTjaeRLgUeRz86U7/offers/5a567904-78a5-f91b-d5bd-dd10a4a3ca21?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $1799.99 | In Stock | 2026-01-06 (may have changed) | | *Store terms are each retailer's standard return and shipping policy from ShopSavvy's retailer research;
