# Skil HT4221-10 Hedge Trimmer *Published: 2026-02-05 | Updated: 2026-02-05 | Source: https://shopsavvy.com/products/skil-ht4221-10-hedge-trimmer* --- **Brand:** Skil **Price Range:** $129 - $206.99 across 20 retailers ## Pros - Powered by a strong 40V brushless motor delivering impressive and consistent cutting power. - Long-lasting 2.5Ah battery offers more than an hour of runtime, letting you tackle multiple trimming sessions without frequent recharging. - Dual-action, hardened steel blades provide clean, efficient cuts and durability over time. - Lightweight and well-balanced design reduces user fatigue and allows comfortable handling at various angles. - Compatible battery system lets you swap batteries easily with other Skil PWR CORE 40™ tools for extended work sessions. - Ambidextrous trigger design works well for both left- and right-handed users, improving maneuverability around obstacles. - Quieter and lower maintenance compared to gas-powered hedge trimmers, with no messy fuel or engine upkeep. - Equipped with an Auto PWR JUMP™ charger that quickly brings the battery back to life for less downtime. - Performs well trimming bushes, tall brush, and small tree branches up to about 1/2" thick with ease. - Safety controls, including a separate engagement button, provide secure operation. ## Cons - Although the manufacturer claims it can cut branches up to 3/4" thick, the reliable cutting threshold is closer to 1/2"; tougher or thicker branches may bog down or cause blade jamming. - Blade jams can occur if debris builds up; clearing the blades requires disconnecting the battery and some careful cleaning. - Operates at a slower cutting speed compared to some previous or competing models, which may affect efficiency on heavy pruning. - Slightly heavier than some corded hedge trimmers, although the cordless convenience often outweighs this. - Controls and safety engagement buttons require a bit of a learning curve to operate smoothly. - 2.5Ah battery capacity is good, but some competitors offer larger 4Ah batteries for longer runtime without swaps. - Loud operation noted by some users, which could be a consideration in noise-sensitive neighborhoods. ## About This Product Ditch the Gas.
