# simplehuman Butterfly Lid Kitchen Trash Can *Published: 2026-02-21 | Updated: 2026-02-21 | Source: https://shopsavvy.com/products/simplehuman-butterfly-lid-kitchen-trash-can* --- **Brand:** simplehuman **Price Range:** $49.99 - $449.89 across 51 retailers ## Pros - Holds a large 45-liter (11.9 gallon) capacity, meaning fewer trips to take out the trash compared to smaller cans. - Unique butterfly lid opens smoothly and quietly with a soft-close mechanism, preventing slams and allowing hands-free access when prepping food. - Easy and convenient bag changes without needing to remove the entire liner—just tilt and pull the bag out. - Durable, sturdy stainless steel design built to last without complex mechanisms that might break. - Enclosed design effectively keeps pets, especially dogs, from accessing trash and making a mess. - Attractive brushed stainless steel finish enhances kitchen aesthetics, looking elegant and modern rather than a typical trash can. - Slim, compact footprint fits well in smaller kitchens or apartments without dominating the space visually. - Includes a 10-year warranty, giving long-term peace of mind about the product’s durability and quality. - Compatible with standard 13-gallon trash bags, which are widely available. - Pedal opening is very convenient when your hands are full, adding to ease of use. ## Cons - The included proprietary 20 bags are thin and overpriced, so most users recommend switching to alternative bags for better value and durability. - Some users mention that standard 13-gallon bags require minor adjustment to fit perfectly, as they tend to be slightly too large for the can’s size. - At $159.99, it is on the pricier side compared to typical kitchen trash cans, which may deter budget-conscious buyers. ##
