**Brand:** Proton AG

## Pros
- Excellent privacy and transparency with open-source apps and multiple independent audits
- Large, global server network with over 20,000 servers in 191 countries, including a free tier with 10 servers
- Strong security features such as WireGuard, OpenVPN, Stealth protocol, DNS leak protection, and kill switch
- Supports multi-hop "Secure Core" connections and TOR-friendly servers for maximum anonymity
- Consistent streaming speeds, able to unblock major platforms like Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and HBO Max, even on the free plan
- User-friendly interface with an interactive map and quick server selection
- No data limits or restrictions on the free tier, making it a top choice for free VPN users
- Operates under Swiss law, with a strict no-logs policy and transparency efforts
- Built-in ad-blocker (NetShield) that blocks over 90% of ads, improving browsing experience
- Supports up to 10 devices per account with broad cross-platform compatibility

## Cons
- Slight reduction in speeds (~8%), with some latency increase on distant servers
- Obfuscation and Stealth Mode may slow connections further and have limited effectiveness in highly restrictive regions like China or Russia
- Customer support primarily via email and online resources; live chat is absent, which could delay help
- Higher pricing for longer-term plans and a prorated refund policy may be less flexible for some users
- Limited effectiveness of stealth features and obfuscation tools in really tough regions or oppressive censorship environments
- No malware or phishing protections, and no built-in Smart DNS support for easier streaming in some cases
