# Petmate Hooded Cat Litter Pan *Published: 2025-08-11 | Updated: 2025-08-11 | Source: https://shopsavvy.com/products/petmate-hooded-cat-litter-pan* --- **Brand:** Petmate **Price Range:** $15 - $79.27 across 65 retailers ## Pros - Works wonderfully for older or arthritic cats, providing easier access. - Very sturdy construction compared to previous models. - Lower opening height and entrance are effective for senior cats. - The open top design allows for easier cleaning without removing the lid. - Highly rated by the cats, getting their approval almost immediately. - The hooded design keeps the litter area hidden from view. - Effective at containing litter, with no scattering issues reported. - Light lid makes it easy to remove and reattach for cleaning. - Great value compared to competitors. - Suitable for use in a condo, fitting perfectly without feeling oversized. ## Cons - Door design is flimsy and may get stuck, causing some cats to avoid using it. - Advertised as a large litter box, but it's more appropriate for smaller cats or kittens. - Issues with urine leaks through the seams for cats that pee high. - Not suitable for larger cats, particularly those over 8 lbs or cats that don't squat. - The swinging door was a deterrent for some cats, leading to them avoiding the pan. - Removal of the entry flap may be necessary to encourage use. - The front design is too low, leading to urine spilling out. - Overall functionality may be disappointing for larger or non-squatting cats. - Smaller than expected, despite measurements having been checked. ## Specifications
