**Brand:** Frost King
**Price Range:** $39.92 - $99.99 across 8 retailers

## Pros
- The design and quality have stayed consistent for 30 years, proving it’s a reliable choice.
- Vinyl covering is durable and effective at protecting the insulation.
- Flexible enough to compress and shape into sharp edges, making installation in tight spaces easier.
- Versatile use beyond just water heaters, such as insulating whole house fans or wrapping pipes.
- Provides strong insulation, significantly reducing heat loss and improving water heater efficiency.
- Fits Rheem and similarly sized water heaters well, including larger 67-gallon models.
- Comes with very sticky vinyl tape to help secure seams, though additional tape may be needed.
- Overall good quality material that holds up well once installed.

## Cons
- The fiberglass insulation is fragile and itchy, releasing irritating particles that stick to skin, hair, and surfaces; wearing full protective gear (gloves, mask, long sleeves) is a must.
- Fiberglass edges break down quickly and the foil covering can rip easily if not handled carefully.
- Tape included may run out before finishing seams, requiring you to buy extra HVAC foil tape or duct tape.
- No detailed instructions included; beginners benefit from watching tutorial videos before installation.
- Installation can be tricky around water heater controls and pipes, and is easier with two people.
- The blanket arrives folded and compressed, requiring slow careful unrolling to avoid damage or excessive fiberglass dust.
- Doesn’t include duct tape which many users consider necessary to get a secure fit.
