While it performs well under most lighting conditions and requires minimal manual intervention, its inability to function in complete darkness and relatively shorter battery life may require some adaptation in usage. Techniques for optimal scheduling might be necessary to maximize performance, but overall, it stands out as a powerful cleaning tool with added connectivity features. ## Pros - Suction power is strong, comparable to or better than other brands tested. - Rubber brush rollers are superior for pet hair and agitating carpet. - Excellent navigation and persistent mapping for efficient cleaning. - Works well in dimly lit conditions (with initial training runs). - Rarely requires manual intervention and runs smoothly multiple times a day. - Not necessary to empty the bin frequently due to the dirt disposal system. - Responsive and custom cleaning via Alexa integration. - Support for future software updates like Keep Out Zones. ## Cons - Not capable of operating in complete darkness without smart lights. - Shorter battery life compared to some competitors, requiring strategic scheduling. ## Specifications | Attribute | Value | |-----------|-------| | model | Dyson V8 Origin Extra | | brand | Dyson | | title | Dyson V8 Origin Extra Cordless Vacuum Cleaner | | runTime | up to 40 minutes | | dustBinCapacity | small | | chargingTime | approximately 5 hours | | emptyingMechanism | pull-up handle to release a bottom flap | | price | $320 | ## Professional Reviews - [Dyson V8 cordless vacuum review: This entry-level Dyson delivers on its promise of performance and value](https://www.businessinsider.com/guides/home/dyson-v8-cordless-vacuum-review) — *Source* - [Great Performance, Reasonable Price](https://moderncastle.com/vacuum-cleaners/dyson-v8-review/) — *Source* - [Dyson V8 review: performance](https://www.techradar.com/reviews/dyson-v8) — *Source* - [17 Night Creams Derms Love for Aging Skin](https://www.self.com/story/dyson-v8-animal-review) — *Source* - [Dyson V8 Review](https://www.tasteofhome.com/article/dyson-v8/?srsltid=AfmBOoqWIoQOu4X7m40mV0EuwUTzX1L1AoVXL3D98BIurRdtlStrCKFL) — *Source* ## About This Product The Dyson V8 Origin+ cordless vacuum cleaner is engineered with the power, versatility, tools and run time to clean homes with pets.
