Large volume is ideal for extended trips, fitting easily in a backpack. - Translucent design allows for easy visibility and location of contents. - Lightweight and offers a good balance of capacity and weight. - Easy to clean and maintain. - Effectively prevents bear encounters by securely storing essentials. - Can hold 5-6 days of food for one person and serves multiple purposes, like a camp seat. - Cap design prevents water from entering. - User-friendly once accustomed to simple tricks for opening. ## Cons - Difficult to open, especially in cold temperatures; may require tools. - Not scent-proof or waterproof, which can be a safety and practical concern. - Shape is impractical on uneven terrain as it can roll away. - Takes up significant backpack space, potentially requiring external strapping. - Adds nearly 3 pounds to pack weight, affecting packing dynamics. - Instructions for use are not intuitive, posing a challenge for new users. - Large packages may require repackaging for optimal use. - Limited capacity for multiple users on extended trips. ## Specifications | Attribute | Value | |-----------|-------| | model | BV500 | | brand | BearVault | | manufacturer | BearVault | | dimensionsUnit | inches | | weight | 2.6 | | capacity | 5-6 days of food for 1 person | | color | clear/translucent | ## Last Seen Prices | Retailer | Price | Availability | Last seen | |----------|-------|-------------|-----------| | [usoutdoor.com](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7UzudbTI8rrd3WBFIESV/offers/CByikEom9mvjdA4cIiO1?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $6.05 | In Stock | 2022-08-12 (may have changed) | | [Byonhome](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7UzudbTI8rrd3WBFIESV/offers/zRRhJjzy4nZ5sW1ymyWM?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $49.99 | In Stock | 2023-03-25 (may have changed) | | [Backwoods](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7UzudbTI8rrd3WBFIESV/offers/NYuGO0dJWzmPksmhmqjh?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $83.95 | In Stock | 2022-10-14 (may have changed) | | [Christy Sports](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7UzudbTI8rrd3WBFIESV/offers/xWEuxjB4UjSJ6nEMrrcj?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $83.95 | In Stock | 2022-09-07 (may have changed) | | [Durango Outdoor Exchange](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7UzudbTI8rrd3WBFIESV/offers/m7G8mQZkjnpcDS3MDFfv?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $83.95 | In Stock | 2023-06-20 (may have changed) | | [Water+Oak Outdoor Co.](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7UzudbTI8rrd3WBFIESV/offers/bKoWjTttSfKZbGrX6dSH?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $83.95 | In Stock | 2022-05-20 (may have changed) | | [Bonanza](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7UzudbTI8rrd3WBFIESV/offers/lvwaJC0qNIdASlHbqzot?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $84.14 | In Stock | 2022-11-05 (may have changed) | | [Back Country](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7UzudbTI8rrd3WBFIESV/offers/sjYkDPAgnTuKEUg6GfD5?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $87.95 | In Stock | 2023-06-20 (may have changed) | | [Mountain Sports](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7UzudbTI8rrd3WBFIESV/offers/b04PT7BOnCPWIe4CnWwd?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $87.95 | In Stock | 2023-08-23 (may have changed) | | [FERAL](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7UzudbTI8rrd3WBFIESV/offers/sDVLgQKYLJGrYck2pNwq?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $87.99 | In Stock | 2022-05-20 (may have changed) | | [FERAL](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7UzudbTI8rrd3WBFIESV/offers/F9qiGoez3sd4EqlGprS8?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $87.99 | In Stock | 2022-05-20 (may have changed) | | [Fuel for Adventure](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7UzudbTI8rrd3WBFIESV/offers/2fb83ab4-c91c-a8fa-1dfa-9612b3f20aa0?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $88.99 | In Stock | 2025-02-24 (may have changed) | | [Eastside Sports](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7UzudbTI8rrd3WBFIESV/offers/d76be23b-6114-b1c5-a8b6-1868553d2731?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $91.95 | In Stock | 2025-02-24 (may have changed) | | [Appalachian Outdoors](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7UzudbTI8rrd3WBFIESV/offers/rQG6S2kjWSwTEaiWPdrh?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $92.50 | In Stock | 2022-08-16 (may have changed) | | [DailySteals.com](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7UzudbTI8rrd3WBFIESV/offers/EXonDQv8Ht5B8EYkyIYd?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $92.50 | In Stock | 2022-05-20 (may have changed) | | [garagegrowngear.com](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7UzudbTI8rrd3WBFIESV/offers/uKTz5mbqy2cj3C0pCnHm?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $92.50 | In Stock | 2023-06-04 (may have changed) | | [Mast General Store](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7UzudbTI8rrd3WBFIESV/offers/PF243nfBaGdsCTYEc4zD?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $92.50 | In Stock | 2023-03-07 (may have changed) | | [Outdoor Gear Exchange](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7UzudbTI8rrd3WBFIESV/offers/qwrZqXi0lwPgTD7he7BS?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $92.50 | In Stock | 2022-08-16 (may have changed) | | [Pro Ski and Mountain Service](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7UzudbTI8rrd3WBFIESV/offers/rztPHNX90uXfOEfyjStM?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $92.50 | In Stock | 2023-06-20 (may have changed) | | [Amazon](https://shopsavvy.com/api/redirect/products/7UzudbTI8rrd3WBFIESV/offers/JCUmOzlzsE2zqKJ7ccT0?source=shopsavvy&medium=product-page) | $92.95 | In Stock | 2022-05-20 (may have changed) | [See every retailer and the full price history on ShopSavvy](https://shopsavvy.com/products/bearvault-bv500-canister) --- *About this page: ShopSavvy compares prices across thousands of retailers, aggregates expert and user reviews, and tracks price history to help you make informed buying decisions.
