# 🔌 ShopSavvy MCP Server Not Showing Up in Claude Desktop or Cursor

> The usual causes are the wrong URL, a config file in the wrong place, or not restarting.

## Quick fix

Use the server URL `https://api.shopsavvy.com/mcp` and fully restart the app.

## Claude Desktop and claude.ai

- Easiest: **Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector**, name it ShopSavvy, paste `https://api.shopsavvy.com/mcp`, and choose no sign-in. Free plans can add one custom connector; on Team and Enterprise an owner adds it under Organization settings > Connectors.
- If you use the config file instead, it must be at `~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json` (macOS) or `%APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json` (Windows), with `"command": "npx"` and `"args": ["-y", "@shopsavvy/mcp-server"]` under `mcpServers.shopsavvy`. This option needs Node.js 18 or newer.
- Quit Claude Desktop completely (not just close the window) and reopen it.

## Cursor

- Add the server in Cursor Settings > MCP, or edit `~/.cursor/mcp.json` (or `.cursor/mcp.json` in a project) with `"url": "https://api.shopsavvy.com/mcp"` under `mcpServers.shopsavvy`.
- Restart Cursor.

## Still not working

- Check the JSON is valid (a missing comma breaks the whole file).
- If your client only supports the older SSE transport, use `https://api.shopsavvy.com/mcp/sse`.
- Without a key the server allows 10 tool calls a minute and 100 an hour. Add a Data API key (`SHOPSAVVY_API_KEY` for the npm package) for 100 a minute.

Setup for every client: [shopsavvy.com/agents](https://shopsavvy.com/agents#install).
