# Migrating from the Barcode Lookup API

> A Barcode Lookup integration sends a barcode, MPN, ASIN or name and reads a product record with a list of stores. The ShopSavvy Data API accepts the same identifiers and returns a product record plus timestamped offers and price history.

**Time:** A few hours: identifiers carry over unchanged, so the work is mapping response fields.

## Before you start

- List the request parameters you use (barcode, mpn, asin, search) and the product fields you read.
- Note which screens use store prices; those move to the offers endpoint.

## Steps

### 1. Get a key

Start a 14-day Starter trial at shopsavvy.com/data#pricing and create a key.

### 2. Replace product lookups

Send the same barcode, MPN or ASIN in ids. Up to 100 identifiers per call; identifiers that match nothing cost nothing.

```
GET /v1/products?ids=611247373064,B07GV2S1GS
```

### 3. Move store prices to offers

GET /v1/products/offers returns each retailer's offer with price, condition, seller, availability and when it was last seen.

```
GET /v1/products/offers?ids=611247373064
```

### 4. Add history and monitoring

Use GET /v1/products/offers/history for charts and PUT /v1/products/scheduled with webhooks to keep prices fresh.

## Endpoint and field mapping

| Barcode Lookup API | ShopSavvy Data API | Note |
|---|---|---|
| `barcode= / mpn= / asin=` | `ids=<barcode, MPN or ASIN>` | One parameter, mixed types allowed |
| `search= (name)` | `GET /v1/products/search?q=` | Keyword search |
| `barcode_number` | `barcode` | Product record |
| `product_name / title` (unconfirmed) | `title` | Their field name varies by API version |
| `mpn, asin` | `mpn, amazon` | Product record |
| `stores[] (store name, price)` (unconfirmed) | `offers[] (retailer, price, condition, seller, availability, timestamp)` | Offers endpoint |

"Unconfirmed" means we could not confirm the Barcode Lookup API field name from its public documentation on 2026-10-12.

## What does not transfer

- Any Barcode Lookup attribute field ShopSavvy does not return (compare a sample response before switching)

## Questions

### Will every barcode I look up today be found?

Coverage differs by catalog. Run a sample of your real barcodes through both during the trial; misses cost nothing on ShopSavvy.
