Yes, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 has blood pressure monitoring, but with important requirements and limitations.

## Requirements

- **Samsung phone required** — Feature unavailable with other Android phones
- **Regular calibration** — Must use traditional BP cuff every 28 days
- **Samsung Health Monitor app** — Required on paired Samsung phone

## How It Works

The watch uses optical sensors for pulse wave analysis, estimating blood pressure from pulse patterns. This method requires calibration against a real cuff for baseline accuracy.

## Calibration Process

1. Take reading with arm cuff
2. Immediately take watch reading
3. Watch calibrates to match cuff
4. Repeat monthly for accuracy

## Accuracy Expectations

This is **not** medical-grade monitoring. Best for trend tracking, not clinical decisions.

**Factors affecting accuracy:**
- Calibration recency
- Watch position on wrist
- Arm position during reading
- Movement and temperature
- Individual variations

## Regulatory Status

Approved in some regions (South Korea, parts of Europe). **Not FDA-cleared** in the US specifically for blood pressure monitoring.

## Non-Samsung Phones

Blood pressure monitoring is locked to Samsung devices. Pixel, OnePlus, and other Android users cannot access this feature. For reliable readings, use a dedicated [blood pressure monitor](https://shopsavvy.com/search?q=blood+pressure+monitor).

## Bottom Line

Useful for casual trend tracking if you own a Samsung phone. Not a replacement for medical-grade monitoring or regular doctor visits.
