No, your old Galaxy Watch bands won't fit the Galaxy Watch 8. Samsung introduced a new proprietary band attachment system called Dynamic Lug, replacing the standard 20mm quick-release mechanism.

## What Changed

Previous Galaxy Watches (Watch 7, 6, 5, 4, and earlier) used standard 20mm/22mm quick-release bands—compatible with thousands of third-party options. The Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic use Samsung's new Dynamic Lug System, which is incompatible with previous bands.

## Why Samsung Made the Change

- **Better fit**: New strap angle for improved wrist positioning
- **Improved sensors**: 11% better heart rate tracking accuracy claimed
- **Flatter profile**: Watch sits closer to wrist

## Compatibility Reference

| Watch Model | Band Type |
|-------------|-----------|
| Galaxy Watch 8/8 Classic | Dynamic Lug only |
| Galaxy Watch 7 and earlier | Standard 20mm/22mm |

## Using Existing Bands

### Adapters
Third-party adapters convert Dynamic Lug to standard 20mm/22mm. Drawbacks:
- Adds bulk
- Less seamless appearance
- Variable quality

### New Bands
Samsung and accessory makers offer [Galaxy Watch 8 bands](https://shopsavvy.com/search?q=galaxy+watch+8+band) designed for the new system—best fit and appearance, but requires building a new collection.

## Important

Incompatibility works both ways—Watch 8 bands won't fit older models either. No cross-generation band sharing without adapters.
