The [iPhone 17e](https://www.apple.com/iphone-17e/) features Apple's C1X cellular modem with significantly improved 5G performance.

## Speed Improvement
The C1X modem is up to 2x faster than the C1 in iPhone 16e. Apple claims it matches iPhone Air's 5G speeds.

## Network Support
| Network Type | Supported |
|-------------|-----------|
| Sub-6 GHz 5G (SA/NSA) | ✅ Yes |
| 4G LTE | ✅ Yes |
| mmWave 5G | ❌ No |

Note: mmWave provides the fastest speeds but has limited coverage. Only iPhone 17 Pro models support it.

## Power Efficiency
The C1X uses approximately 30% less power than iPhone 16 Pro's modem, helping preserve battery life during data-intensive tasks.

## Wi-Fi Support
- **Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax):** Supported
- **Wi-Fi 6E:** Not supported (Pro models only)

## Apple-Designed Advantage
The C1X is Apple's second-generation custom modem. In-house design enables better optimization of power management and component integration.

## Real-World Performance
For typical use—streaming, downloads, video calls, gaming—the iPhone 17e's 5G feels very fast. The improvement is most noticeable in areas with strong 5G coverage.
